Silent Running (5.9+)
Three O'clock Rock, Darrington, WA
August 16, 2007
Loren Miller, Adam Greenstreet, Scott Streett and I climbed Silent Running and the bonus 7th pitch today. Loren and I had been trying to get out on a climb all summer long so we finally made it. We talked Scott and Adam into joining us on this fun, granite, friction climb.
The weather forecast was for rain but we lucked out with mostly sunny skies and only a little bit of a chilly breeze on the last two pitches.
To make this interesting, Scott forgot his rock climbing shoes so he ended up climbing the entire route in his Chaco sandals. He also climbed the final pitch which goes at 5.10b. Very impressive. We were all cracking up everytime we looked at him smearing up in his sandals.
