Mt Baker Snoqualmie National Forest
May 15, 2008
Today Adam Greenstreet, Ryan Thurston and I had planned to climb Gunn Peak, but the weather was so warm that wet slides were happening all around us, so we set our sites on a safer peak, Point 5760.
There was a fallen tree about a mile from the "trailhead" for Gunn Peak, so we parked the rig and hoofed it up the road. It turned out that even if the tree hadn't blocked the road, we wouldn't have been able to drive much further as there was still 3-4 feet of snow in places. What a snow year!
We found the spur road and soon were at the log crossing. Fortunately only a few of the logs were underwater, so we were able to make it across with fairly dry boots. From our previous trips to the area, Adam and I were able find our way to the old road and the clearing where the climbers trail begins.
