Backcountry Ski Tour to Chair Peak Lake

Snoqualmie Pass, WA

December 15, 2011

My friend Todd Kilcup and I had been talking about getting out and doing some ice climbs together. We both had the day off from work, so we made plans to skin in to the Chair Peak area to take a look at the north face for a possible ascent but the recent snow accumulation made for poor climbing conditions.

So we skied down to Snow Lake and skinned the length of the lake under some amazing cliffs and up to the ridge above Chair Peak Lake. The higher we climbed, the deeper the snow, so our ski back down was pretty fun with at least 8 inches of new snow!

Todd took some great pictures that he posted on his blog An Upward Progression

Thanks, Todd, for a fun day in the mountains and for introducing me to this new area!
